Kinglock - Artist - Singer/Songwriter

Born Gareth Marc Kinglock in Montego Bay, Jamaica, music was a mainstay growing up. His earliest memories centered around his mother practicing church songs and singing with her. Singing was so prominent at home that he was asked to audition in the primary school choir, which he gladly did. They sang throughout the island at school and church programs. Kinglock sang at Holy Childhood High School, to be apart of a televised event for independence. They didn’t win but as a young boy, Kinglock felt great, walking through the community and hearing people say that they saw him on television and congratulating him on a job well done.

Immigrating to the United States, Kinglock wrote, recorded, and performed at churches, local clubs, private events, and festivals in the Washington, DC area. Kinglock worked with the legendary Jim Fox of Lion and Fox studios on his original piece “Plant a Seed,” which was the stepping stone that allowed for the creation of his music video which was created by Aly Asili. “It was a full-circle moment for me, flying back home to create a cinematic visual piece of my song in my homeland. One of my greatest moments.”

The promotion of Kinglock’s music allowed him to be on the same ticket with great artists such as Da Real Storm, Tweeta Bird, Lady Flame, Steele, Ras Slick, Johnny P, Tiger, Ikaya, Glenn Washington, Johnny Osbourne, Leroy Sibbles, Kiprich, Duane Stephenson, Abijah, the Rootsman, and Erol Dunkley.

Recently Kinglock released several albums such as Plant a Seed and My Musical Contribution, and singles Fun Time and Raging Bull with Denva Syce. Currently Kinglock is working on releasing his highly anticipated single “Turn Up” which continues to showcase his love for music.
